Founder and Director of Starlight Pops, Sue Doman is known for her imaginative, upbeat and joyful approach to choral leadership inspired by her studies with B.C. choral director and vocal jazz legend Janet Warren. Since 2003 Sue has built a reputation as an innovative conductor and director of choirs and special events in Victoria and throughout Vancouver Island, with special emphasis on choral pops and vocal jazz repertoire.
Sue brings an upbeat, engaging and positive approach to her work as a choral director. She believes the choral experience should be enjoyable and entertaining for singers and audiences alike, and fosters a high standard of excellence by nurturing each individual’s talent in a healthy, supportive and constructive environment.
In addition to her accomplishments as a choral director, Sue holds a degree in voice performance combined with over 45 years of experience as a performing vocalist in Canada and the U.S. Her impressive vocal range and exceptional versatility keep her in demand as a recording artist and interpreter of inspirational, pops, musical theatre, big band, classical and new age material. You can also catch her performing the Canadian and American national anthems at sporting events at Royal Athletic Park, The Q Centre, Westhills Stadium and the Save-On Foods Memorial Centre. She has released three solo CDs, and her soaring soprano is featured on two albums by internationally-renowned ambient music artist Aeoliah.
